Proceed Textures

Traditional decorative materials were based on natural products and were "formulated" into plasters and textures by the decorative craftsmen, which allowed for exploration and experimentation. In contrast, as modern "synthetic" decorative painting products were developed, they were formulated to produce specific finishes. While this made them more convenient to use, it also resulted in a confusing array of overlapping products and has hindered the serious craftsman's full understanding of the how versatile acrylic based textures can be.
Unlike other decorative products, the Proceed line of textures was designed as a system of complementary texture mediums that allow the decorative craftsman to fine tune the surface characteristics of the final finish.
While each Proceed texture is formulated to produce a certain effect, they are also designed to be intermixable. This allows the decorative painter to combine Proceed products to replicate any finish they desire or to develop new and unique product combinations. Moreover, experienced finishers have the ability to combine basic raw materials with Proceed textures to create unique products of their own design.
Proceed textures can be used in three ways. At the first level, Proceed products may be tinted and applied straight from the container to produce professional-quality decorative finishes in one or two passes around the room. Used at this manner, Proceed products are ideal for situations where an economical fast finish is needed, as well as for user-friendly finishes for those new to decorative painting.
At the second level, Proceed products may be intermixed, allowing the knowledgeable professional decorative painter to access much of the formulation range of acrylics. Using this approach, these painters will find that they are usually able to render most any finish by developing blends of Proceed products and fine tune them to customer expectations. Of greater significance, this capability allows them to engage in the design of new combinations of materials to develop finishes of their own.
At the third level, professional painters have found that they are able to incorporate their own aggregates and locally-available materials into Proceed textures to literally develop products that are unique to their practice. Golden cannot guarantee the results of such mixtures so use of the products at this level is recommended only for the most advanced practitioners with an intimate understanding of materials.
