SALON 2014 Seattle

The Decorative Painter's SALON Comes to Seattle in 2014

The International Decorative Painter's Salon is delighted to announce the exciting forthcoming 19th annual Salon of Decorative Artists will be held in Seattle, Washington. Dates for the event are May 1 through May 4, 2014.

This event attracts the top decorative artisans from around the world, who will exhibit their works and conduct live demonstrations and lectures. The venue for this unique event will be the recently restored Sound Transit Union Station in historic Pioneer Square – one of the oldest neighborhoods in Seattle and home to numerous galleries. The name derives from a plaza originally known as "Pioneer Place" which, with the surrounding blocks, is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The theme for this year's submissions and demonstrations, "Seattle and The New West: Classic and Contemporary," was inspired by Seattle's broad mix of contemporary Architecture and Art. Incorporated at the turn of the 1880s, Seattle today is a contemporary city with a broad mix of 20th century architecture. The participating decorative painters will be expressing the theme in their work by applying classic decorative painting techniques to contemporary designs.

This event is a must-see for decorative painters of all skill levels and a chance to interact with some of the best practitioners in the world. The event is open to the general public, but decorative painters wishing to participate in the exhibitions and demonstrations are encouraged to contact this year's organizer, Cathy Conner for further details (studioc.conner@gmail.com).

Following the formal Salon will be the "Post Salon," a chance for participants to explore Seattle and its surroundings. Seattle is a city of innovation and technology, built in a watery green paradise surrounded by mountains, sea and lakes. It is an embodiment of the new west – home to Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks, Chihuly glass and, of course, fine wine and food and much, much more.
